I don't keep chickens....only eat 'em and their eggs. Thus, they can be a bit of a mystery to me. Anyroadup, I cracked open an egg for yesterday's yorkshire pudds and found it had a bit extra. No, I don't mean a double or treble yoker - I am quite used to those. What it had inside it was another egg. It was larger than a pea, but it was complete. It had a shell, albeit soft, and albumen inside. Inside that was a yoke. I have never come across this before and wondered just how unusual it is. Also, what would have happenned if the egg had been allowed to mature after fertilization? Just wodered.
