  • Muddy feet & scaly leg mite!

My chooks had a bout of scaly leg mite which I was having problems eradicating....................then the rains came.
The runs have become muddy and their legs were caked with mud. They sit on the many roosting bars I have installed in the runs so are not in the mud all the time, only to walk from A to B.

Today it was dry and I noticed their clean feet when they were sunbathing on the perches.

To try and control the scaly leg mite I used various concoctions including vaseline to basically smother the mites.

I think the reason my chooks feet are like new is because the mud has done the job of the vaseline and smothered the mites. It also appears to have acted like an anti-aging cream and had a re vitalising effect. My Laydees have lovely clean, fresh looking and miteless feet!

    Aint nature wonderful.

Anyone wanting to take advantage of Snadgers patent chooks mud skin restorer, can have some at this never to be repeated offer of £50 per litre! (Bring your own tub!)

I noticed mine had scaly legs, but kept forgetting to take the surgical spirit and vaseline down there, but I have noticed since all the mud, their legs are looking better too. Especially the two who are back in lay.
