Just candled my eggs and .........

I feel slightly overwhelmed i have 29/30 pekin eggs fertile, they are due in 2 weeks!!!!

After convincing myself that none of my eggs were fertile - I nearly threw the lot and it turns out I was wrong!!

Have 6 more incubating at present, and I'm not going near them till day 10 at the earliest!!

I'm not very good at candling, but when I candled my 12 2 days ago I think there's only 3 that might come to anything They're due to hatch on Friday so we'll see .................... not holding out a lot of hope for a good hatch. If only 1 arrives then I think I'm going to be phoning Mike and Jennie and asking to "borrow" a couple of babies to keep it company

Good news for you. Mine are twelve days in but I don't do candling.

To me its like parents finding out the sex of their bairn before its born, nowt wrong with that btw but I'd rather just wait and see what, if anything, hatches from my homegrown eggs!

i have 7/7 frizzle pekin fertile hatching at the moment - after watching what our pekin boy gets up to , i am not surprised they are such a fertile lot!!!!

I've got a baby Croad Langshan only Day 20 so still time for more to hatch. fingers crossed it's not an only one and that it's a Claudia and not Claude

Right- that's me decided then- off to get some Marans eggs this weekend. Betty went broody yesterday- and she's my best mom so I feel I can trust her with 6 expensive eggs!

Just lovely Mo! Hope you get some more out. One of mine was over 24 hours after the others. I had 2 one afternoon around 2 ish the one overnight and the 4th about 5pm. I was really surprised but the last one has caught up now.

You appear to have the same type of incubator as I do! Which reminds me , I must go to Inshops and buy an under bed storage unit to make into a brooder!
