I know there have been one or two big eggs lately so thought Id share mine with you all
One of my home bred hybrids is laying me a lovely 50g (ish) egg each day , went yesterday to collect it and there was a second egg in the nest with it.
It is GINORMOUS when i got home I stuck it on the scale and it weighs 78g
Alban says hes having it for breakfast on Sunday..but I want to frame it I'm not sure who laid it yet, despite following Al's advice..'Look for the one that's waddling'
I would add a pici but my camera and phone are BOTH dead (batteries that is)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I get eggs of that size daily. Mind you, I think the more the girls "get into the swing" of the laying season (when they're not moulting or being broody) the eggs do get bigger. When I'm baking, I always weigh 4 eggs together to work out how much butter/sugar/flour to use and it's always around the 300g plus; if I'm doing smaller cakes I use the smaller eggs (obviously ) and 4 of them come in at around 250g.

I hope you get lots more - I think the record on here is around 110g (my biggest was 107g)
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

                    Are they banties it's hilly?

Our eggs are always 70g plus, and Doris can lay them at 110g plus. They are always double yolkers and don't fit in the egg box

I don't mind what kind they lay, am just grateful they do so for me and I hate it when I find a broken one or I drop one.

No Janyo, theyre full size. But this is their first ever lay as they were only hatched last summer and they are still sorting themselves out.

My Banties have got into the swing of 44g-47g but in the early days one of them left me a 63g. My eyes watered on hen's behalf.
