  • Hens kill fox

Just came across this story on the web. A woman in Essex opened the coop to check her 3 hens and 1 cockerel to find a dead fox amongst them. Apparently the fox somehow slipped in, a scuffle broke out and it seems a table fell over onto the fox temporarily dazing it. The hens and cockerel, who were unharmed, seized their chance and pecked the fox to death.

I have to say and it wont go down to well. I do feel for the fox!

Although a so happy ending that the chucks and the cockerill are alive to fight another day!! Although not so for the fox

I reckon that the cockerill would have sorted it anyway LOL

Sounds highly improbable to me. I think someone was having a joke.

Wouldn't guarantee it, it is the Mail

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I heard it on the local radio this morning while getting ready for work. I don't think the press needed to publish a photo of the fox though.

ok now this might seem controversial to some, but I am going to say it anyway cos I just dont care what people think of me right now.

If it had been a kid/vandal/hoodlum who broke into the coop in order to cause untold damage to the chooks, and the table had fallen on him/her temporarily dazing him/her and the hens and cockerel seized their chance and pecked him/her to death - would they have been put down as vicious dangers to society, and would we be mourning the tragic death of a young member of society who was tragically killed in such a terrible way.

well, weekendwellies,i would say that was just deserts, its like the kids that are injured or worse stealing the cables from by the rail lines ,they get told time and again so i have little sympathy for the thieving/destroying/mugging element when they get brought up short by their own behavior,i have no time for the pc crowd, who ,no matter what is done, its always someone elses fault..thats how that pack of bankers get rewarded for being such a useless load of parasites..destroy the economy and get megabucks for doing it...sorry for going off thread....

The story reminded me of a incident I witnessed recently which involved a wood pigeon and the neighbours cat - the bird was pecking about on the lawn and suddenly the cat leaped out in front of it. Rather than flying off the pigeon stood its ground - the look of surprise on the cats face was a picture! In this case both cat and pigeon were unharmed.
