  • Lump near her eye

i noticed today that one of my girls (an ex bat) has a really big lump just below one of her eyes and her eye seems to be swollen shut as well. She wouldnt let me catch her to take a good look and i also think she might not be able to see out of it too well as she kept turning her head so that her "good" eye was looking at me.

tried to google to see if i could find out what it is but cant find anything.

    anyone got any ideas?

I shouldn't laugh, but directly below your post, when I looked, was an advert for a specialist eye centre!!! How spooky is that?

Back to the Chook - could it be a tumour?

Having taken several different animals as well as my chickens to the vet, I can only say that the chickens seemed the less stressed out of all of them. You might be suprised at how knowlegable your vet is about chickens (I was) and if you're very lucky the vet might only charge you for the medicines for rescue chickens.
Hope you get the problem sorted soon.

whatever happens, you have to have a good look and then decide,as was said some vets are chook friendly, especially to ex-bats,good luck with it ,i hope it works out for you...and chook..

Yup - I took four last year, they had the sniffles. The vet was fab, and the Chooks were far less-stressed about the whole ordeal than I was.
