I heard crowing early this morning. More persistent than usual, then I found out that the pop-hole was closed! Valentino was outside, and all his Ladies were inside! Somehow, when the motor wound the door up, the hook had come undone and the door had stayed shut. I don't know if he was first out, before it fell shut, or if he slept outside

He was not happy, running around like a nutter and yelling his lungs out. He flew at me when I went in the run to open the door, but it wasn't an attack, I think he was just so pleased to see me.

He's still yelling like a nutter now - poor boy.

As for the Ladies, well, no manners at all! The pop-hole is wide enough for one at a time, watching three trying to get out at once is entertaining to say the least!

The thought just flashed into my head that it could have been a bit like a guillotine!!! Glad he's ok though and enjoying the fuss

I think the hook must have come off when the door opened this morning, as the mechanism had 'opened' but the door was still at the bottom. I guess he was first out, in fact he may have caused the thing to come undone by pushing through as soon as it started to open.

He's not usually last to bed, so I don't think he slept outside.

He's much calmer this evening. Poor lad!

Forgot to tell you; my Dad saw him fly today, he says it may have been his first proper flight because he clearly hadn't thought about the landing. He says he just crash-landed with his wings outstretched, legs a-kimbo, and sumersaulted twice before he eventually stopped.
