Buying Chickens

Chicken House and Run all setup and secure, now is the time to start my search for Chickens.

Have got a few different contact details for different places to have a look, but can anyone recommend or knows anywhere in the Kent or Sussex area, somewhere close to the Bromley/Orpington area would be great.

although if your new to chicken keeping, ex batts might not be the way to go, there are always ones around the Kent area. You can check out the Battery Hen Welfare Trust site for the next rescue

Is Reading too far?

Just got our new birds from Widgets birds in Reading, widgets.co.uk, excelent service and good with follow up phone calls. They are in the middle of moving at the mo' so check before you go.

When feeding the Chickens do I need to offer them Grit feed aswell as chicken feed? or can you buy an all complete feed?

A good poultry food contains grit as well as all the nutrients the chooks need, however it's also a good idea to have a container of grit for them to help themselves to. They know when they need the extra
