If they had thought about, most of the people using vermx are selling "Fresh Eggs" not "Free Range" so technically they exposing their customers to possible prosecution?

Exactly what I was just about to say... a very large error has just been made. Shame, I needed a correx sign

technically, most backyard keepers could probably get away with stating that their eggs are free range. to be free range they need to have a minimum of 6" perch space each and access to grazing, 2 square metres per bird. let them roam around your garden as most grapes do, then you comply in a loose sense of the phrase. besides, when compared to most commercial eggs they are certainly more free range than some!

but true, if you wish to follow the letter of the law, it would be better to say fresh eggs rather than free range, but at the end of the day, the average person who drives the end of our lane by and says "oooh how quaint, real eggs for sale" is probably of the belief that the hens have rubber stamps up their bums to mark the eggs with a date and take it in turns to lay them into special egg boxes........................ some are even surpised to see that hens come in different colurs

                            Just thinking the same mesel

Assuming they dont get snapped up on the day of laying. Or maybe they do.

Do you put honesty boxes out too.

And how honest are people where you live.

I know for a fact that if I put things out with an honesty box that a lot of good people would in fact put in some pennies to the value of the produce and then some little blighters would come along and take the money out of the box, then probably take the eggs/fruit/veg and chuck it around all over the place.

I guess it depends what sort of environment you live in.
