    Give over you lot, I'm getting funny looks because I'm sat here on my stall giggling at nothing.
    And if she sat still for too long she'd need climbing gear to get down off the pyramid

      Eee buy gum! That made me giggle!
      Seriously though, I'd re-do your coop - Ive just re-done my new run, despite the fact that it had been treated already. Better safe than sorry.
      I also use Diatom, but never thought of just throwing it around inside the coop, will do in future.

        My tuppence worth is probably too late, but here goes.

        If you are near an agricultural supplier, I would go and by some good old creosote, and treat the new house with this.

        Red mite do not like this.

          Thanks a lot for all info.the 300/week joke is causing a stir here as well!!!coop assembled and creocote applied.we all ready to welcome the chickens next week.went to pet shop yesterday and couldn't find (diatom)does it have another name or where do people get it from?

            I only know it as diatom. You get it at animal feed type shops or poultry suppliers. Where in the world are you living, maybe we can point you in the right direction?
