well we did all the birds today,one at a time,got each one out and washed their feet,applied the vaseline to the scaley leg(on one of them) and dusted them with lice powder(the one that moulted),i was told that they wouldnt mind having the powder put on them,and that was correct,after the initial flapping ,within seconds they were peaceful having their bums and surrounding areas dusted and rubbed in,when i turned them right way up,they all just settled down under my arm,very peaceful,then off to roam about the back garden..looking for the strewn corn....cant believe how easy it was,thanks to all for all the info

cool!! keep up the vasaline for a few days and you will see a marked improvement in the infected bed,my cockeral is now skipping about the garden like a jack rabbit!! and coming into spring now he is all over the girls!!!totally mad on growing veg and keeping bantams!!!!

i have been watching the birds ,after dusting them last week for lice,checked them all today and seems to be no reduction in numbers yet,made sure all the areas were covered and will check again in a few days,still covering the scaley leg and hopefully that is now on the mend,
