Going rate for those selling their eggs

I've had my girl's now for just over a year and although I have enjoyed their eggs and the amount of enjoyment they give me to watch them during the day, I have been trying to find ways to use all the eggs I get but simply cannot find a way to use them all.

I had been sharing them with neighbours but even with their help it is still an impossible task.

So I went door to door yesterday around my neighbourhood armed with 3 dozen eggs and some leaflets with my number on so if anyone wishes to order any I would be willing to drop them off for a small fee.

I did some research on the shop bought free rangers and was quite shocked at the prices that they are charging. I have always kept an high on the price of the more cheaper variety of eggs (ie batt eggs ) and am always walk past with a "No Way" attitude.

I managed to sell 2 boxes yesterday with a lady placing an order for a dozen on a weekly basis... This gave me the biggest kick of the day. My only worry now is that I might not be able to keep up with the demand if I go to far afield. I only did the one road!!!

So how much do you guys sell your eggs for?

Maybe you should aim for 'just under' shop prices

If you price them too low, you'll be run off your feet.

I sell mine at £1 for half a dozen. I like the idea of going door to door to get regular orders , I've got a few "regulars" but with my lot giving me a dozen a day (more or less) even all my sales and baking don't keep up

I sell at £1 for 1/2 dozen. As the feed is so cheap at the moment I'm eaily covering all my costs with ones weeks sales.

My neighbours know that the hens slow down when the weather is naff but as I have so many it's normally my supply that takes a knocking which only means there's only about 5 cakes in the freezer insteadof 20

I sell mine £1 for half a dozen, a good price in my opinion, seems a few other grapes do too. As TS said, don't sell them too cheap.

Maureen - print some postcards/business cards printed introducing yourself and telling them to call you or pop round if they want eggs, then shove them thru doors on the estate - or you could use vistaprint and take advantage of their free business cards etc.

What I did was offer them for £1.20 per 6, with a 10p discount on returning boxes for future sales.

I don't plan to use the money that I get from them, but to just simply save it.
I bought 300 egg boxes last summer, and probably still have 280 left so I don't need to worry about any outlay's as such. Neighbours have been giving their own boxes for theirs.

If I have any spare, I sell for £1 for 6 at the car boot.

If I could I would, but garden space is limited for the girl's as it is. Maybe if I can convince hubby to get rid of the dog's then I could have more chooks and a hair free home again!

It's gonna take a lot of convincing tho

£1 per half dozen here too. They always return the boxes, I have a little sticker on them asking nicely. Theya are mostly friends or neighbours so they know better than not to return them!

80p for 1/2 doz or £1.50 a doz!

Cheaper than most I know..........but I'm not in it to make money and it helps towards paying for there feed.

TBH some people just drop a quid for 1/2 Doz in my honesty box so can't grumble!

I sell mine for 60p half & £1.20 a full doz; but my customers supply their own egg box so we do a bit of recycling too.

I am trying to get the courage to put my sign up on my gate as I just have too many eggs.
