  • Chooks re-housed.........

And not a day too late as the temperature in the greenhouse soared today!
Light Sussex cockerel is a teddy bear and went first. Rest of chooks followed one by one but took a heck of a lot of catching.

    Anyway, here's a few piccies.

    1 Full setup including hexycoop
    2 Recent coop and run
    3 Inside coop (shed)
    4 All present and correct

Grand total was £2.50 for a packet of staples. Rest was constucted from pallets, a derelict hut and scrounged wiremesh!

to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Looks great snadger - we can go 1 better though, when we built the new turkey run we did it with scraps of wood scrouged from skips and freecycle and we got the mesh from a guy on freecycle - propper security grade mesh so good and stong, he used it to hold in his rotties. BUT we didn;t even have to buy the staples, when he removed the mesh he carefully took out every staple and popped then in a box so we had those too!!

Freecycle was a fab invention, saves so much stuff going to the tip, just cos you don't want it anymore doesn't mean its not of use!

Jealous though Snadge - your coops look all smart and freshly painted - I really need to get around to doing ours!

Must admit, after a month of banging and clattering it was nice on Saturday to drag a table to the chair and spend almost a full day in the sun doing a bit of gardening..........ie potting up toms and peppers and sowing loads of seeds! (got sunbunt on my left shoulder for my troubles!)

That looks fantastic- you must be really pleased with all your hard work.Really impressed that it only cost £2.50 (wont tell you what mine cost- I don't like to think about it!!. Move the decimal point two places to the right .) Impressed with your recycling skills.
Know what you mean about enjoying some gardening- it's hard ****** graft this home made chook house lark, and takes alot longer than originally planned.:
