  • I am spending loads of time staring at the incubator!

How exciting is this hatching chicks lark! Built a homemade incy and noticed about 4 hours ago that 2 of the eggs are moving about! Can't stop watching them

'fraid it's a case of "how long is a piece of string" but I'd expect some action in the next 24 hours. What day are they on?

Some move about for as much as two days before they start pipping. Some don't seem to move at all then surprise you with a fully hatched chick one morning. That's the fun of it!

Thanks Richmond for your advice, just wondering as my 1st time hatching, how exciting! Must admit I've been watching the other eggs also and wondering why they aren't moving as well, you've just put my mind at rest, thanks

Phew, at least I'm not the only one who watches eggs wriggle.
And I went up to see to the big chicks on day 20 eve, and found I had two little chicks too, hadnt even pipped in the morning.
What sort of bantys Mrs C?

Hi Binley, you did make me laugh with this post! I'd probably be watching the tadpoles in my pond too if it wasn't for the chicks in the incy

Oh my word, I'm still staring at the incy! I can hear cheeping getting louder and pecking/scratching noises quite loudly from the inside of at least one of the eggs!!!!! I'm enthralled, how much longer. I have a very excited son here camped out on the living room floor!

My last lot started cheeping within 48hrs of hatching.
Once the first hole appeared they were out within about 12 hrs. Some longer some shorter!
