  • Not very urgent help needed. Dr. Seuss?

I don't keep chooks but do like to buy genuine free range eggs from a lady at my local car boot in summer. Yesterday she told me she only had bantam eggs but I bought them anyway. I'm wondering why some of them have a distinctly green shell. I tried a couple boiled last night and there is no difference inside or in taste. Chook experts, please tell me what it is.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Different breeds of hen lay eggs with different coloured shells. Some breeds do lay distinctive blue or green eggs. Shell colour has no influence on the flavour of the egg itself (we had a friend who would only buy brown shelled eggs as she believed they contained more fibre like brown bread)

It's just down to the breed of chicken. Different breeds lay different coloured eggs. Araucanas lay green or greeny blue eggs. You will have to ask your supplier next time you buy from her what breed they are from.
