Parrot beak???

One of my new chicks has a beak which crosses over slightly. In a horse this is called 'parrot mouth'
Is this called parrot beak in a hen?

She's a good size - and clearly eating well- and it doesn't appear to be any worse than when she was a hatchling. She's now 5 weeks old. I presume it'll stay as it is now?
Anyone else had a chick with a deformed beak???

Am I going to need to trim it regularly when she grows up???

Deformed beaks are a genetic trait, if you have the parent birds do not breed from them again and never breed from this chick.

As your chick is eating well she should grow normally, beak trimming is very much dependant on each individual bird - play it by ear, you are not stupid and will be able to tell when or if it needs doing. We have one here that came to us through rescue and she is fine, I trimmed her beak when she first came in and now 18months later I still haven't trimmed it again. She will be fine I'm sure.

Like I said don't breed from them as in severe cases the bird will starve to death quite quickly and the further down the line it progresses the worse it will becomes!

One of ours has always had a very slight cross, just enough that the top slightly hangs over to one side. It doesn't grow any further - or she wears it down. It's not enough to call is crossed really. No problems and she's the top chook!

My Wonky has the same kinda beak, hence the name and she's also top chook in our flock.

We got her Mar 09 as a rescue hen and she's never had any probs with eating or drinking, she's probably about 2 and half yrs old now and still going strong.
I wouldn't worry unless she starts to show signs of weight loss, or you notice that she's not eating as much as the others.
