    Hi Guys/Gals

Mum and Dad have 5 bantams and 4 other chooks that i wouldn't be able to identifiy. currently they have them in a run that they can move them around the garden every day to fresh grass etc but the run is hard to move due to old wheels and a big lift to get it off the ground.I have offered to make a new set of wheels that makes the run eaiser to move but how far can i raise the run so that it's moveable yet the foxes//Chooks can't get in/out. There is no bottom to the run.

Hi DarkCrow, r they all in together? Must be a big run to wheel around, when you say 4 chooks, do you mean 4 normal sized hens? Along with the 5 bantams it sounds a bit crowded. Not being nosey, but what you describe is a standard ark? What is the size? To answer your question you can raise it to whatever to enable the movement of the run as long as it is fox proof, ie - weldmesh

I would agree with Mrs C. Nine chooks in a moveable run sounds a bit overcrowded, unless it is a huge run which I suspect it isn't as otherwise you wouldn't be able to move it!

Why not get some electric fencing and make them a proper run where they can have more space? It is still easy to take up to move to fresh ground when you need to, but at least that way you are spared the daily heaving and hauling of a moveable run. And it will keep the foxes out.
