Poorly cockerel - advice please!

Aww..thanks for asking!

Well- he's totally blind in that eye and giving the other cockerel a very wide birth,so I think he's accepted defeat.
It's sad/impressive watching him find his way around as he suddenly spots something he would normally have seen ages before.

Au Vin seems to be OK with him so long as he's not eating at the same time /near the gals.
Poor Paxo is most definately at the bottom of the pecking order .

I didn't give him antibiotics, but kept an eye on the temperature of the skin, and if there was any discharge.
Looks like Paxo is a toughy bless him

Makes you realise how easy it is for a cockerel to damage an eye though

i note his name paxo==peace, or a dirivitive of. remember having an online discussion ie geneology, whereby someone asked whether the names given to us impact on our charecter and therefore our life. perhaps, he should have heeded his given name!!

I haven't had one my but my neighbour has more than one Cockeral called Nelson, once they've recovered they seem to get along ok.....

Yup- his eye is nice and clean- although clearly totally blind.
He's still chasing the gals- but keeping well away from Au Vin ( if he spots him creeping up!)

Panic over- but it is such a shame cos he 's a lovely gentle lad.

(So glad I didn't take my neighbours advice and cull him.)

so nice to hear that he has recovered, AND still has an eye for the gals!!! eye injuries are always scary; it must have been a horrible experience for him , and for you.
