Sorry to hear about Marigold. My sons rabbit had to be put to sleep because of Flystrike. My vet will put any of my ex-batts to sleep if necessary for nothing but since being shown what to do my OH now feels confident enough to do it himself in an emergency. Glad you found someone to do it for you. (((((Big hug)))))

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

how awful for you - but you did the right thing in not letting her suffer.
I am dreading the time when we have to do this too, as neither OH or me will be capable.

                RIP little marigold x

                    Aaaaw...Thankyou everyone.
I'm confident we did the right thing...should really have done it much sooner....why do these things happen to the favourites?

Maybe it's because they are a bit vulnerable that they become favourites, not the other way round? We are known in this country for favouring the under dog - or under hen.

Sorry to hear your sad news. If its any consolation, at least you were able to make sure she wasnt suffering. Its still very hard though. My thoughts and hugs are with you.

Quite possibly....my 'favourite' ISA is the one with the broken toe....I accidentally stood on it whilst digging last year....she's still the one that's always under my feet,so she obviously didn't learn her lesson

It felt a bit strange up there today, but at the same time a little relief that I didn't have to look at her with a guilty conscience that we were keeping her going whilst possibly suffering.
There was a little pecking and bullying from Dandelion, although nothing major, she possibly wanted to let them know that even though there's now only one of 'them' she's still in charge(or at least just one below the Buff)
