  • chicks outside at night?

    Hi
my Bantys are now 5 weeks old & out in an ark in the day. when can they stay out at night & do I need to put food & water in the house & shut them in, its quite a small space?

At 7 weeks my banties had come out from under their mom's wings and were sleeping on the perch next to each other.

I'd have thought by weekend they'll be fine- I suppose it depends on your night temperatures!

They will be fine now. You don't need to give them food/water at night. Leave them out in the ark day and night they will be fine. You can shut them up in the house bit at night to keep them snug after dark but we are due a few nice days (according to the weather forecast) so they should be warm enough.

Awww, how sweet. Mine were outside from the beginning (with their mama). I shut them in the house for the first week and then they were pootering about on the grass in the sunshine. I made a big straw nest for them in the house and their mama kept them warm. Now they are on their own and have a big house and run, the house door is open at night (because I can't get to it when the house is attached to the run) - they seem fine......................
