I know chooks are weird and wonderful all rolled into one, but Red is being a right pain lately.
How on earth do you tell a chook that a nest box isn't a dust bath??
For days, maybe even weeks... once all the girl's have done their laying for the day, you can guarantee that Red will be there ready and waiting to pounce.
Off she goes into the nest area, makes it look like she's gonna lay and then you get the "knock knock knock" on the side walls and floor from where she is just having the time of her life bathing in the nest box.
I'm surprised that she hasn't done it whilst there has still been an egg in there. Scrambled egg anyone?
