Ex bats gone broody!!!!!!!

Poor old girl must be 4 or 5 years old now.

Her and another 9 chooks are billeted with Rambo the killer cockerel who I said I would never breed from!

He is a wonderful looker though........just a tad sadistic!

As she's adamant to stay put I've decided to leave her to it. Because she's sitting in the box that they all lay in I've had a bit of a tidy around in the run and created another nest box. Hopefully the rest will use it.

How many eggs should i put under her do you reckon? I think she's sitting on 5 at the mo.

After my dealings with ex bat broodies in the past I'm not too hopeful though. The last couple have got off the nest and walked away after a fortnight!

My ex-batt broody has been sat for 3 weeks now, on nothing! When I let her sit last year she had already been broody for 2 weeks before I put the fertile eggs under her. She was a really good mummy. Just wish I could deal with the unwated cockerels as I can get get fertile eggs no problem. Good luck.

She got back off the nest today. Eggs were cold so I've let her out with the rest of them!
