I need to do the deed. I have a sick chook that's on her last legs but I can't bring myself to put her out of her misery, despite being brought up by a game keeper. It's not that I can't do it, more that I feel guilty about her being ill in the first place.
She was injured by one of the other girls and I missed it, by the time I spotted it she'd got an awful infection, which I cleaned up (couldn't afford the vet even if we had one who knew about chooks) and thought I'd got rid of. She was alright for months and has been laying daily then suddenly, in the past couple of days she's hardly moved and the infection has come back. Her back end is rock solid, like a lump of wood. I think it's necrosis (sp?) and she really does look like she's about to go.
Not after any advice or anything, it's too late I think, just rambling and gearing myself up to put her out her misery.
