What sort/size of chicken wire

I was considering building a coop and a run.

A question about the run..

Given the sizes of chicken wire available what's the best height and hole size to use ?

Chicken Run

If I had the cash and was beginning again, I would use small weldmesh to fence the run. This also means that if you get chicks and/or bantams they will still be secure. Also Mr Fox will find it almost impossible to bite through it.
The alternative is a double (offset) fence of ordinary chicken wire - go for the weldmesh straight off - I wish I had!
For added security, roof it over but ensure that it is high enough for you to enter and muck out without stooping.

Absolutely agree wjth alandbailey. My latest run is made of 1" weldmesh and modular panels 4' x 6'. It has still to be finished but looks much sturdier than the others which were posts and chicken wire. I had to reinforce them in the end as I was worried the fox could bite through. Got my weldmesh from Hills of Devon.

i use chicken wire with 1" holes, any bigger and it makes them more vulnerable to predators. i buy it by the roll, and it is about 3' by 50' a roll, and then unplaned economy rails for timber, half round and about 12' long and 3" diameter both from 'countrywide' farm shops.

Mine is half inch by 1 inch weldmesh - can't get rats through that!

mine is old school type linked fence,i got it when the local footie club changed to a new steel rod type,i attached chicken wire to that(to keep meeces out),and covered the whole coop area with it,with a slab surround to stop any digging under the fence,the biggest danger is two of the birds are escape artists,constantly trying to dig their way out,they have been over 9ins deep before now,in one day..steve mcqueen eat your heart out........
