6 days to go now and i'm really getting twitcy .Its worse than when we were having our first baby why is this so different to waiting for snakes and lizards to hatch, maybe its the direct involvement of turning the eggs 5 times a day

I'm chicken-keeping, but only vicariously through all these posts. Even I'm really excited! Please keep keeping us up to date.

How can you see a beak? Aren't they still inside the egg? have they started to hatch?

Ho-ho our posts crossed! What a lovely eye stripe. The advantage of an incubator is that you can see the whole hatch, how lovely!

The Welsummer egg would have been dark brown - like a dark terracotta flowerpot. If the egg was not this colour then the chick is not a Welsummer, or at least not a pure one. I can't tell from the pics as the chicks are not fluffed up enough yet.

                            They look cute though!
