Oldie chook that is!
One of the oldies was sitting in the corner looking forlorn yesterday so I was not surprised to find her spreadeagled in the run and I presumed she was dead.
Took in a broomshank to fend off cockerel who wasn't to happy with me stealing one of his harim.........dead or alive.
When I picked her up she twitched but didn't open her eyes.
Carried her down to the bottom of the allotment so the other chooks couldn't see me as I put her out of her misery. I was going to take her home and put her in the bin, but the binmen don'y come until Thursday, so decided to light the woodburner at the lottie and cremate her.
Half an hour later there was nothing left.
Spose if you're a chook keeper you have to get used to life and death and just get on with it.
