After a turbulent day yesterday, I've slept on it and you try and stop me from trying again. (See G4, thats how you do it).
I think this time was a learning curve, unfortunately at the expense of the babies that didn't make it.

Hopefully the little one will make it (fingers crossed), but RH says it was too early for him/her to come out even tho today was day 24.

Anyhow, the answer in short is yes, i'm going to see jules tomorrow to get 6 from her too, so with 16 on the go I hope to stand a good chance.

      Dont do it.
Right, that's the bit you wanted out of the way. Bearing in mind that house sales take as long to sort out from the offer being accepted as eggs do to hatch. Why not. Just the once. *sticks tongue firmly in cheek* You seem to have sorted out somewhere to move chooks if needed. And you do know the pros and cons. So go on. Make an old bird very happy.
      NO NOT ME STUPID..the ex-bat

By the way word of deepest warning..chooks, stables, muck-heap...love affair. Mine went from 6ftx12ftx3ft high to 24ft square x 1ft high in one enthusiastic digging session. Boy that was one bunch of very happy, very knackered chooks.

I've joined the 'duck'side, two of my chooks are sat on 6 Aylesbury eggs. They've been there for 10 days now

Still deliberating, I'm afraid. I can't fathom a way to section off a run for her and the little coop, not without a lot of juggling. My Mum came up with a great idea; the old tack-room, that the Geese were in at night in the winter. Problem is, the coop won't fit through the bladdy door!

Yes, she is still broody. When I turfed her off the nest this afternoon, for the second time today, she ran outside hissing, clucking and swearing at everyone else. Her tail is up and fanned out, her wings are fluffed out, and she's picking fights with the others.

After her sad start in life in a battery cage I can't believe you would deny her the chance (probably her only chance) to have some babies of her own (violins please). Poor little chicken.....

If you've got a room you could put her in to brood, why do you need a coop in there? A good-sized cardboard box would be perfectly adequate! Get her settled BEFORE adding the eggs you want her to hatch.

I love my banties too- full of character- always fussing and nattering between themelves...good layers and as mine free range, hardly need feeding!
You do get used to the 35-45g eggs...problem is finding an eggcup- and spoon small enough for soft boiled eggs!

You should see them boss the ginormous Marans about!

Nope - don't like the screeching of Banties - I know two Bantie Roosters, they are such noisy screechy little things - and not big enough for dinner!

Dunno what or how many yet.

I've just put her in a small pen with a nest and six crock eggs. When I left her, she was still clucking and hissing like a mad-thing! Feathers all fluffed up, tail fanned and wings out. Looks quite silly really.

I'll check on her when I've finished my coffee.
