can chucks eat the shells from peas/cougette leaves

Hi All

Ive shelled some peas and wondered if the chucks can eat the shells? also one has ben wandering into the courgettes, are the leaves okay for them to eat?

Mine have never eaten either! I have lots of courgette plants - they prefer the fruits - should think the leaves are a bit prickly! They don't bother about peas either and have always ignored any on the compost heap.

I have geese and chooks running together.

My geese adore the pea pods- but a couple of my chooks get stuck in with the same feel good factor!

I have been giving my girls the pods when shelling my peas and they go mad for them.
I've never given them courgette leaves tho, but I spose I could always give it a go.

But they do eat virtually anything I throw at them, I even gave them some bread sticks that I wasn't going to eat, and they loved them. Is there anything my chook's won't eat?

Mine wouldn't touch the sage leaves ...neither would the geese!

Instinctive fear of Sage and Onion maybe?

My chooks have always eaten pretty much anything! Really looking forward to having some again

mine eat anything you have! i was sitting at the garden table eating some toast and cream cheese the other morning and she leapt onto the table and had it out my hand before i could put it back ont he plate!!

they are also fond of jelly too, i found this out in much the same manner! lol xx

Mine go mad for courgette leaves - jumping the wire fence just to get at them. They leave all the cougettes. They must be strange 'cos those leaves are quite prickly.
