  • What a clever girl!

My lovely little Buff Orpington bantam has laid her first egg!
I hatched her in February - my very first go at hatching so she's extra special as she was the only girl! She has been squatting for about a week and her pin bones were well open so I've been hopeful even tho she's only 22 weeks! Her brother was rehomed a few weeks ago and she's been very vocal since then. I thought she was missing him but I guess she was announcing the imminent arrival! Thanks Honey!

      Congrats!

I've had my Chooks for well over eighteen months now - and I still get a silly grin when I collect the eggs. Daft innit!!!?

I'm trying to ignore it!!!!! I really feel she's too young and winters coming so I don't want chicks growing up in the cold and wet so all in all I'm not going to give her any eggs I don't think. One of my lottie neighbours has Silkies so could get a couple of eggs from him if we get desperate!

Congrats on the eggs. Not so on the broody. Having been there and done it once, never again. (Can't deal with the boys) Broodies not wanted around here!

I've decided not to hatch any more this year. Had been saving up some LS bantam eggs as still have three broodies but have now decided definitely not. Cooked the eggs!!
