              • I wish it could be Chookmad everyday,
                When the chooks start clucking,
And the donkey starts to bray ..........
He who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

                  • While chickens washed their socks by night, all perching in their shed,
the angel of the hens came down and this is what she said...

                          • Well, my lot have just had their Christmad present. A bit late, I know, but they're so happy they haven't complained. I've just been out and spread a bale of bedding in the mud run. Well, I slit the plastic, tipped it out, and it was jumped on by the Chooks, who immediately started spreading it around. I threw their corn into the mix too - that'll keep 'em busy till bed time. Happy Chooks.

Yes, it's a quick way to lose £7.50, but it'll keep the ground dry and sweet for a week or so, and prevent it looking like the somme for quite a while, so can't complain. I usually get through two bales a year for the nest-boxes and a scattering on the coop floor, so I don't mind the odd one or two extra when it's wet - and they love it.

It's this stuff; Excel Horse Bedding - Horse Bedding - Bed Down if anyone's interested.

                            • I use bed down g4. I am really lucky to get wood chips from local tree surgeon for the runs though. That and a heap of leaves and a mountain of windfall apples keeps ours busy for hours! Not been on here for a bit due to work and had flu last two weeks!

                              • Hi stranger! *Waves

Yes there's a load of lurgies doing the rounds. Our yard owner finally managed to persuade her eldest to take youngest to their Dad's so she could get her breath back after Christmad, and then promptly took to her bed with a virus for two days. Several Liveries and their families have bad colds, my Hubby's a bit SAD this time of year, and another chum at the stables has just had her first ever Migraine.

                                Unhealthy boogers!

Oh, and I notice I have a hopping Chook, but she's too ruddy fast to catch!
