Identify the chick?

Once feathered, the cuckoo Marans female is a lot DARKER than her brothers (the cuckoos are the only ones I know at all well). I once had a very confusing cuckoo, hen-coloured body, pale head. Turned out to be a good hen, laid well first year, respectable layer second year, wonderful broody after that.

Once feathered, yes, but as tiny hatchlings they're paler. This is our 13 week old Cuckoo Marans lad - I think he's quite pale;



And the other Cuckoo Marans boy who's about 10 days now, you can see his head spot and a bit of barring appearing too;
