Lol. Handsome boys! I have 2 young copper black marans cockerels - but they are for rehoming. I am getting rather fond of one of them, who is starting to crow a bit already - at 7 weeks old!! Were any of yours grey when they were chicks? I hatched 5 - 3 black and 2 grey, including the crowing cockerel - who is now grey and copper - is that normal? the other grey one is a hen and she is gradually getting darker, but not the cockerel as yet.

      Perhaps they are copper/blue...

Mine were 3x black with whitish markings - which I think is how they are supposed to be as wee chicks, and two grey - here's a pic of them newly hatched - and some of them at 5 weeks - grey ones male and female, grey male with black female, black male. What do you think? Have I got some Copper Blues?

Interesting! Yes, they are lovely. I will be keeping the grey female as she is my favourite out of the hen-chicks, although the two other hens are gorgeous copper-blacks too. And I would love to keep the blue cockerel as he is very handsome especially now I have been bowled over by your beautiful big boys Nicos - (and I expect their 'Mum' has - literally!!)
However I don't have the space and I would really be pushing it with the neighbours, so he has to be rehomed.

Copper blue cockerel anyone? It's Hilly - want to breed copper blues?? ;-)

Do you know Scarlet - can you get blues from copper-black parents? Or will there have been an egg mix-up? Or crossed-parentage? How does this go with selling him on/ rehoming? Or the others for that matter, although they may not be related.

If I was closer I would grab him off you! I had some several years ago but lost to a fox before I had my electric fence.

I now keep copper/blacks and cuckoo marans, light sussex LF and silver sussex bantys, tho' my last copper black died this year.

I believe if you cross a copper black with a copper blue you get roughly 50/50so my guess is (only a guess!!) the parents of your hatch were one of each.
