Hi i have recently purchased 3 warren hens 18 weeks old, had them a week tomorrow, two of them are friendly one is very nervy and wont come near, any advice!!! cheers

Do you mean she won't come near you, or the others? To get them hand tame, only feed corn/treats around your feet as you squat near them. Then they have to come to you to get the treat. Gradually hold the treats in your hand rather than putting them on the ground so they have to touch you to get at them. Then you can start the process of feeding with one hand and lightly touching them on their backs with the other. It all takes time but eventually they will be jumping onto your lap and stealing your sandwiches!
Also start night time handling so they get used to being touched. Go and get them off the roost when it is fully dark and don't turn a light on near them - just do it by feel and let them get used to you stroking them and lifting them gently up and replacing them on the perch. A little bit each night or every couple of nights and they will soon be quite happy to be handled. Very important too when you need to check their condition and look for parasites etc. -

Give her time, talk to her gently every day,let her get used to your voice, when she's ready she'll come round. Their quite intelligent birds contrary to popular belief, they love to be picked up and made a fuss of - when they are ready! Like us you get a wide range of personalities, some are outgoing, some are a bit shy and some are just total nutters!
