Oh what bad news. I would also say go for a broody, I have enjoyed that route much more than the incubator, even if the mothers are too protective to let you have mauch of a look in! I shared one lot of eggs between hen and incubator and the hen won.

Aww sorry to hear it didnt turn out well Sheena. I'll cross my fingers for you that you get a broody - its much easier when they do all the hard work and far less stress for you!

How are you doing sheena
Was just wondering if you have had any thoughts?
I'm sure if you decide to leave things for now that you could take the chick crumb back.

I really don't know what to do, if I went with a broody I wouldn't have to worry about the weather (she says) too much as mum would do all the hard work.
But i'm thinking maybe try again in the spring with a fully automated incy (it'll take me that long to save). Hubby seems to think i'm going into chicken selling but i'm only interested in replacing our lost girl's. Ex batts are truly lovely don't get me wrong, but I want some home reared at least.
