  • Mystery of the cuckoo marans continues..

Some of you might remember I posted a photo a few weeks ago of a chick that had been sold to me as a cuckoo marans

    http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ick_50821.html

and we came to the conclusion that he might be a marans x light sussex.

He went off to his new home on Saturday, but I took this photo of him before he went.

When I first spotted it when it started coming through I thought it was dirt, but on closer inspection its a single ginger feather!

Do you think its just one of those random things or could he be a mixture of something else?

I have a Cuckoo Marans, when she moults, her new feathers grow brown speckled, then turn to grey! No help at all to you, I know!

              We've a Mystery Marans too.....

Definitely Cuckoo-striped, but it seems to have a crest coming! It's egg was a clear chocolatey brown so it's definitely Marans. I'll see if I can get a photo up soon.

We've got some very weird gingers in our hybrid lot too!
