  • Chicken attack!

The sound we all dread! Cut a long story short a bloody stoat attacking the girls! 1 casualty who is now in a cage separate from the others. Seems perky enough eating and drinking, fingers crossed!

The injured girly isn't too bad, a couple of bites to the legs, the swine wouldn't let go and the noise was dreadful! She seems OK but will keep checking her, it's the shock of it that might kill her though. Her comb is very pale.

Just a thought....when peeps go into shock they get very cold and need slowly warming up...if it's the same with hens then maybe a hottie in with her to cuddle up to if she wants to????

Well, I have googled stoats and minks etc and to be honest settled on the fact it was a stoat due to the colour etc but what I read on minks sort of describes the little blighter we got shut of, who knows but it was an angry little swine!

well mr fox sits and stares at the girls and can't get in, never figured on a stoat though, got weldmesh and reinforced mesh, mesh and more mesh etc etc, it was a shock to say the least!

Thats worrying that it could get through all that wire and mesh. Hopefully it will think your hens are too much bother after mr c got involved and wont come back.
