Had some new chickens last Wednesday, yesterday a few chickens started to show signs that one side of their face is swollen, partly closing their eye, with snot coming out of the nostril on the same side of their face. Today this seemed to progress to both sides of their face, in almost half the flock and one chicken seems to have a rattly chest.
They are fully vaccinated, including microplasma, any ideas?
Could anybody help me out in finding a vet within our area, Stoke-on-Trent/Staffordshire?
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Not much help really - sounds like mycoplasma to me and I don't know of any vets in your area. Have you tried searching the threads? You may have some luck

Just ring your local vets- I hit lucky doing this. If they don't do hens them they could suggest who does.

Classic signs of mycoplasmosis. You should ring the breeder and insist he take back the birds (they would have been infected prior to you buying them and the move has triggered another attack). I don't think it's possible to vaccinate against myco, but I may be wrong about this. You can vaccinate against infectious bronchitis, which has similar symptoms, but then results in the hens laying wrinkly shelled eggs, whereas the eggs look normal with myco.

Vet-wise, as others have suggested, ask your own "pet vet" to recommend one, if he doesn't see poultry himself.

Bramble Poultry used to live in Stafford and had a good vet so a PM or email to them might yield a name for you. I agree with RH though - take them back pronto and let the breeder treat them.
RH - I think a new vaccine came out for mycoplasma but I can't remember where I read it

Doesn't Aunty Mo (Maureen Hall) live in Stafford? PM her, I'm sure she'll point you in the direction of a Chook vet.

there are many types of mycoplasma like flu - you cannot vaccinate against all of them. If you don't want to take birds back, get some tylan from the vet to treat them with.
