  • Can you get chickens at any time of year?

I know their egg laying goes down over winter.. but I dont think I'll be ready until around mid octoboer, would that be too late to get some chickens?

I would guess they'll be cheaper then, breeders won't want to feed them all winter, so you may get a bargain.

You can buy them any time, but don't expect them to lay in the dark depths of winter, although a young hybrid just coming into lay now will most likely lay through winter regardless.
