    hi all,
i am a really new chicken person.
we have a light sussex, 2 blackroacks and 2 speckledys.

all at Point of lay. bought last week from same place.

all was going well but now my blackroack is being picked on by all the others.
nice bald patch above tail feathers now appeared and today it drew blood.
i have used anti pecking for last 3 days and purple spray on blood today.

i have removed the blackrock that is suffering and put in run alongside, but how long should i keep her separate?

Keep her separate till the wound has completely dried and doesn't look red and sore, probably several days. Then give her a good spray again when you return her to the flock.

Do they have plenty of space to escape each other? There is always a bit of beating up when introducing new hens to each other but if they are drawing blood you need to make sure they have plenty of other entertainment to distract them. Add logs and branches etc to create an obstacle course so the picked on hen has a chance of evading the others - they cannot do this in just an empty space. Also hang things up like bunches of greens etc so they are occupied pecking these and not each other.

Where do you live? I have a can of Ukadex that I don't need anymore which you're welcome to if you can collect? Also got some beak bumper bits if things get too out of hand.
