I'd like to store the sack of feed outside, by the coop - does the container need to be airtight? Have seen a few plastic bins that say they're airtight.

Doing this will also mean I can just lift the feeder out of the run and bung it in the bin - save me traipsing to garage and back

I think the feed bin needs to be vermin proof rather than airtight.

Doesn't need tobe completely airtight just Roland-rat-resistant! I keep mine in a plastic dustbin with a clip on lid.

I had feed in a plastic rubbish bin in the shed. Roland and/or his smaller friends ate the plastic of the lid sides and top of bin and one day when I went to get some feed - in the bin, in its paper sack with the top tightly folded over - a very well fed mouse popped out. Gave me a big fright.

I use an old solid galvanised bin now and have had no problems since.
