Can the same bird lay different looking eggs?

As far as I know only my blackrock is laying (well, we've only had two eggs ) - but the first one was sort of speckly, and the one we had yesterday was plain, light brown - no speckles on it. Both eggs are the same size - still small, but I've a feeling that my light sussex is hot on the blackrocks laying heels.

So I'm not sure if it's from the same bird, or perhaps the LS has popped one out? My other one isn't ready as far as I can tell - still a tiny comb, hardly any wattle, and it's pale pink.. and I can perhaps only get 1.5 fingers inbetween her pelvic bones...

Edit: The blackrock laid the speckly type egg at the top of the picture..

I am not an expert in any way, but I think it could be possible that they are from the same hen.

I have a hen that lays blue eggs and the colour varies from a really pale blue, almost white to a really deep turquoise, sometime they are blue at one end and white the other!.

I can only really comment on the blue eggs as they are the only ones I can quarentee its owner as I have 6 in lay and the rest are all very similar!

I would guess at the same bird too, I think your sussex egg will be much lighter in colour than the ones shown on the photo - always difficult to judge egg colour on a photo tho..

        Either way, extremely tasty!

Also, why are super Market egg whites clear, when mine and a mates eggs are sort of cloudy- is this to do with the age of the egg? I could believe how plump the yolks were- incredible for such small eggs!

A very cloudy white is the sign of a very fresh egg, the egg white will become clearer the older it gets.
