Cat flap for the chickens

Hi.

Just a question on the carpet flaps.... Does it affect their laying? The reason I ask is with the carpet flaps down will it not be dark in the coop all the time? will they go it to lay in the dark?

I like the idea as we sometimes forget to 'tuck them in' and/or if we are out I worry about them getting cold. I cant have a auto pop hole closer as I have to physically put some of mine away as they like to roost on the roof (even after continuosly putting them away everynight for gawd knows how long!
