  • Advice Required - Could This Be Converted?

    Hi Grapes,

Just wondered if any of you guru's / diy experts could take a look at this and advise if it could be modified into a chook house?

Childs Wendy House Garden Shed with Upstairs! on eBay (end time 20-Dec-10 17:30:14 GMT)

    As always many thanks
    Danny
    Cheers

Looks spot on! Its even got a mezzanine area! Posh chooks!
I guess it depends how handy you are. The felt roof needs to go and be replaced by Onduline and some mesh over windows.
If it was near me I'd go for it!

We have just converted a wendy house to a chook house - no upstairs to ours though!

We have blocked the windows (as slightly exposed site and on allotment) and created a tunnel pop hole (as house is on the outside of run and we can't butt it right up to run). We have to drill ventilation holes and cover with wire, sort the perch out and then finally sometime this summer we will replace the felt roof with onduline.

Don't be too disappointed if it goes for quite alot of money. They do tend to fetch good prices.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Can't see any reason why it wouldn't convert, if the price stays reasonable.
I'd put a nestbox BELOW the mezzanine, and close off the lower window to keep the nest area dark, others might put the nestbox up on the shelf, but that means a high perch (perch is best higher than nestbox).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
