i have three black rock hens,checked them yesterday morning and there was no eggs,checked them at lunchtime and there was 4 eggs,i thought they could only lay 1 egg each a day,back to 3 eggs today.

Not very good at maths but if there was a variance of only one hour in the time you checked each day, theoretically you could get more eggs as they are laid on a 25 hour cycle!

My quail occasionally lay one more egg than there are quail.

I recall reading that they can lay 2 a day. Often the shell of the second one is thinner, Sometimes they appear as double yolkers.

I have wondered on one occasion if we had a double layer...if it was, it only happened the once.

I'd save ya money and not go to specsavers...my gut feeling is that you've been one of the lucky few!!!
