  • Can a bantam boy you-know-what with a normal sized hen? :)

Random things enter my head at the best of times, and this just in.

What would the offspring be? I'm guessing the only difference is size? Kind of a in between a fully and a bantie ?

They certainly can and the resulting offspring would be an in-between sort of size. The problem with putting small males to much larger females is they can damage the hens trying to get aboard, often cutting the skin with their scrabbling claws. Bantams are randy little devils (well mine always have been) and will try it on with just about anything that is willing regardless of size.

LOL! our pekin cockerel, Pippin, launches himself on anything, including brahmas and buff orpingtons - given half the chance.

I would have said yes too, even though I don't have any true Bantams. Two of my youngsters are part Bantam, and they can hop/jump higher than the bigguns. Plus, as the Hens usually squat down anyway, I'd say it would be possible.

I'm just glad B&Q orange buckets are not fertile, as one of my Ganders has a liking for them!
