One big one too - my hen coop came with an external nest box split into three with removable dividers. There was always evidence of scuffles like broken eggs and the dividers everywhere in the coop. I took the dividers out and like RH says, they can all pile in easily when they want and there is no queue for the 'best' nestbox. They are much happier.

I definitely think building your own is the way to go - there are so many little things on my hen house that drive me mad -if I make my own I can design them out!

I've just got a board across a corner of my big coop and fill it with clean straw. They all go in the coop and stand around to watch whenever anyone is laying!
