I was under the impression that some reptiles gender is determined by hatching temperature. Is that just that survival of each gender is temperature-related? There are species of fish that change sex under specific conditions (the ones I know about live as a 'one male plus harem' group, and if the male dies, the dominant female becomes male) and I'm sure I've heard of other examples of gender being more flexible in reptiles.

                  Wierd! Including schnoz!
I had a hermaphrodite rabbit once - not half and half like that both both sets of gonads. Took a few visits to the vets and several name-changes to sort that one out!

That can occasionally happen with humans. One of my one-time online acquaintances had been brought up as a girl until early teens, then the condition was discovered and he was given the choice, and had the necessary surgery to live a male life. He had children.....
Life must have been very difficult for him, but that was largely the result of human social attitudes.
