There are so many issues with all types of bedding, so during the winter they have a table protector on the base, shavings on the top of this and then Hay to keep them warm

Although Henna can be allergic to Straw and sometimes Hay depending on where it comes from

I use newspaper int he bottom (my coop floor is creocoted) - few sheets to stop them digigng it up, and then a good layer of straw in there. I used to use shavings on top of the newspaper and then straw on top, but I found they kicked all the shavings out..

I put bedding straight on to the concrete floor. I gave up with droppings boards, as the poo sticks like superglue! I gave up with newspaper, as they just used to shred it up and make a blimmin mess! Now I just put the bedding mixture on the floor, and they can scratch it around and eat the grit out of it, and I can sweep and shovel it up much more easily.
