Last night was very windy here.
I arrived at the allotment today to find four white hens and Sid the cockerel heading straight for me from the opposite end of the allotment to where they had been billeted in my greenhouse.
The hens stopped short but Sid kept coming and launched himself at me. While trying to keep him at bay I had to pretend I was terrified and run back into the greenhouse to get him to follow me. It worked a treat. He came after me feet first. I could just about read his lips "Where the £$%$^ have you been and where's my grub"
The wind had somehow blown the door open and Sid and his Harim had taken a wander up the allotment to where my other chooks are kept.
The rest of the hens were captured by laying a thin trail of mixed corn into the greenhouse door and standing back. That also worked a treat, so alls well that ends well.
Sid was hatched by me and has always been very macho. Nearer to the end of the month I intend using some of his harims eggs to incubate.............cripes knows, I hope his offspring don't all inherit his butchness as life could become very interesting!
