  • Think I've just had a triple yolker ?

... or an *extremely* large double yolker. It's almost a normal egg size larger than the usual double yolkers I get.. I wonderd why she hadn't been laying since Thursday, thought something may be wrong as she just didn't look her usual self - normally first one out, yada yada - they normally jump up/down a foot and a half (despite me making them steps out of old logs on their ends) - from their coop tunnel to run - she'd been using the logs, so I thought she may have hurt her foot or something - no signs of owt obvious. She'd not been squatting when I walked near her, which is what she usually did too, so then I thought perhaps she's got an egg stuck.. Next thought was perhaps she was going broody (no idea - noticed a slight tinge of purple on her comb) but then thought maybe it was slight frost bite. Didn't like being handled, and would run away from me given the chance (again unusual).

Anyway as Mrs is v.ill spewing constantly (joys of pregnancy) I was in the middle of chopping a huge tree down and looking after the daughter the chickens slipped my mind. Went to let them out this morning and found this huge egg! First thoughts was something else must have laid it, (goose?) - noticed loads flying around, and on the roundabout near my garden that has the chickens in.. as I've no idea how that could have come out of one of my birds. She was the first one out today, happy as larry and squatting everytime I made a movement (funny) - as usual guess she was just carrying this heavy load.. Hopefully, as someone else said due to her wrinkly egg previously last week which I posted about on the weekend -> possible shock maybe she got her egg machine mucked up a bit.

Hope shes alright, seems fine anyway. She was 'barking' the other day come to think of it - as even my neighbour commented on her (usually quiet). So fingers crossed it was something that scared her!

Shall take a pic when I'm home, it's like a turkey egg !

Yummy 3 yolks, but I wonder if it was a tough one to drop/squeeze out? Hope she gets back to normal soon.

Took a quick photo earlier today - my cable is at work though so I'll upload it tomorrow.. it was a triple!! Mad. 100grams (thought it'd be heavier), but not that much white (compared to normal eggs), two large yolks, and one smaller one. Decided to make it into a lovely scrambled egg for the little one who's ill. She took one mouthful and pushed it off the tray, and then just scoffed the toast.

grr!!! Still, i had a taste - very yellow and tasty
